If you’re not listening to ‘Grassroots Gossip’, where have you been? The fantastic podcast, spilling the beans on all the latest news and stories from the Midlands’ local football clubs, is currently in its third series and is as insightful and entertaining as ever!
Every week, the hosts (Cazza and Westy) bring us exclusive interviews with players and managers, who share their experience, journeys and the highlights of their individual careers. Both Non League and Premier League interviewees pop in to chat with the guys, and offer a fascinating perspective on life in the game.
The idea to bring their podcast to the masses came to Cazza and Westy where many of the best ideas usually do - in the pub! They would often spend Sunday afternoons exchanging views on Non League football matters and “driving their teammates crazy” after the morning game.
After a while, and with interest growing, the guys started to think seriously about podcasting: “It was decided that we would swap the pint of carling and chase the ace for a microphone and recorder. Far from interview experts or audio editing masters we decided to give it a go and agreed on the name Grassroots Gossip.”
Being a part of the football community (Westy a Non-League player, and Cazza a Manager), they called upon their contacts and quickly began booking top guests to come on and share their stories.
For series three of GG, Moving Forward Sports has designed and produced a bespoke ‘kit’ for Cazza and Westy to wear whilst on hosting duty. A branded and personalised polo, quarter zip track top and bottoms - all displaying the new ‘Grassroots Gossip’ logo
(which was also created by our own expert designers).
Now, not only do they sound the part - they look the part too! Plus, we’ve provided an on brand, matching football shirt which will be presented to guests of the podcast as a very smart souvenir - not bad at all!
Previous series have boasted such guests as Kyle Perry, Kris Taylor, Ashley Hemmings, Richard Batchelor, Wigan Athletics’ Chey Dunkley, Ian Long, Steve Hinks, Richard Thorndike, Francino Francis as well as Non-League managers such as Steve Burr, Neil Tooth, Matt Clarke, and Marvin Robinson - to name a few!
Recently, series three opened with special guest Andre Gray, striker for Premier League club Watford. Andre has experienced a rapid rise through the ranks from talented Non-League player to professional footballer, and has enjoyed representing several clubs along the way including Brentford, Burnley, Hinckley United, Luton Town, Shrewsbury Town as well as Watford.
With this in mind, Grassroots Gossip teamed up with MF and commissioned a very special, one-off bespoke football shirt - one commemorating Andre’s time with each club and hopefully providing him with a fantastic memento of his time on the podcast!
